  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp ube extract
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 package instant dry yeast (8 grams)
  • ⅓ cup ube halaya jam
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit until frothy.
  2. Add egg, softened butter, and sugar; mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add salt and flour while mixing; switch to dough hook and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl; cover and let rise until doubled (about 30 minutes).
  5. Prepare filling by mixing ube halaya jam, brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread filling evenly across the surface.
  7. Roll tightly into a log; slice into equal parts.
  8. Arrange rolls in a greased baking pan; let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Pour heavy cream over rolls and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 21–23 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Make frosting by whipping cream cheese with softened butter, vanilla extract, salt, and confectioners’ sugar.
  11. Spread frosting over cooled rolls before serving.
