  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup cilantro leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 8 small tortillas (corn or flour)
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 23 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup water (if needed to thin sauce)
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (more or less to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1/4 cup Cotija cheese
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: Blend oil, green onions, cilantro, garlic, salt, lime juice, and sour cream until smooth. Thin with water if necessary.
  2. Toss cabbage: Mix some sauce with shredded cabbage in a bowl; set aside remaining sauce for serving.
  3. Cook shrimp: Season shrimp with spices. Sauté in a hot skillet with oil for 5-8 minutes until pink and cooked through.
  4. Assemble tacos: Spread smashed avocado on tortillas, add slaw and shrimp, then top with Cotija cheese. Serve with lime wedges and extra sauce.
