  • 1/2 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
  • 1 Tablespoon mustard (prepared yellow)
  • 1/4 Cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 28 oz beef and beans (half of the liquid drained)
  • 2 Tablespoon flat leaf parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a cast iron skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion for 4 minutes until transparent, then add green bell pepper and cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, chile powder, liquid smoke, mustard, and brown sugar; whisk until blended.
  4. Combine beef and drained beans into the sauce mixture and stir gently to coat. Add sautéed vegetables and parsley; mix again.
  5. Transfer mixture to a greased casserole dish and bake for 45 minutes until bubbly.
