  • 1 box Devil’s Food cake mix
  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 oz)
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sour cream or buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp salted butter
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cake mix and pudding mix.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, sour cream (or buttermilk), and cooled coffee until smooth.
  4. Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. For the ganache topping, melt butter in a saucepan over low heat; whisk in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  9. Pour warm ganache over the cooled cake.
