  • 2 and 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (200g) packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 cup (130g) chopped pecans
  • 2 Tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup (112g) sifted confectioners’ sugar
  • pinch salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Cream softened butter and dark brown sugar until smooth. Add egg, then mix in maple syrup and extracts.
  3. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture and fold in chopped pecans.
  4. Chill the dough for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll the chilled dough into balls and place them on baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 12-13 minutes until lightly browned around the edges but soft in the center.
  8. Cool on baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.
