Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 1 medium shallot (finely diced)
  • 4 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika

Instructions

  1. Heat canola oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the finely diced shallots and minced garlic, stirring to combine.
  2. Once bubbling (about 1-2 minutes), reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together dried minced onion, red pepper flakes, kosher salt, chili powder, and paprika.
  4. Strain the garlic mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into another bowl to separate the crispy bits from the infused oil.
  5. Allow to cool for about 20-30 minutes before adding the crispy shallots and garlic back into the strained oil.
  6. Transfer to a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid and store at room temperature for up to several weeks.
