  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 whole lemon (juice only)
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into cubes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Prepare a baking dish by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and core the pears, keeping the stems intact for presentation if desired.
  3. Place the pears cut side up in the baking dish. Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with brown sugar and optional spices. Top each pear with butter cubes.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes, then flip the pears cut side down, spooning any caramel sauce over them. Bake for an additional 20–50 minutes until soft.
