Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
  • 110 g water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (for topping)
  • Vanilla ice cream (or flavor of your choice)

Instructions

  1. For the crust, mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add water gradually to form dough.
  2. Roll out two portions of dough—one for the bottom crust and one for the top.
  3. Prepare filling: Peel and slice apples. Sauté them with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water until slightly softened.
  4. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Assemble the pie: Place bottom crust in pie dish, fill with apple mixture, cover with top crust, seal edges.
  5. Cut slits in the top crust for steam release and brush with egg wash mixed with water. Sprinkle brown sugar on top.
  6. Bake for about 80 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving with ice cream.
